Nucleus Research delivers an easy-to-use guide for understanding and measuring the ROI from technology. As part of its ROI expert program (www.ROIExpert.com) Nucleus Research today made its quick reference guide for understanding and measuring the return on investment (ROI) from technology available to the general public. The guide provides a concise overview of the process of gathering and measuring costs and benefits and explains the real uses of various metrics such as ROI, TCO and NPV. Additionally, it explains the steps you can take to maximize the ROI from a technology investment. The ROI quick reference guide is available at no charge from the Nucleus Research Web site (www.NucleusResearch.com). "Return on investment (ROI) and payback period are the two most important metrics to use when evaluating the benefits of a technology decision," said Ian Campbell, vice president of research. "Unfortunately we find many companies making decisions using metrics that do not correctly evaluate benefits such as TCO or NPV. More seriously, there are numerous false metrics such as cumulative ROI and return on opportunity that consultants often promote but that only serve to mislead the decision maker. We hope decision makers can use this quick reference guide to gain an unbiased understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of various technology metrics." "Financial metrics such as ROI and payback period are commonly used by companies to calculate the viability of new projects or capital investments," said Rebecca Wettemann, Research Director. "Understanding how to apply those basic tools to evaluate technology decisions enables companies to evaluate and justify their IT decisions in terms of the financial impact on the business." The Nucleus Research ROI quick reference guide is a 3-page summary of the information provided in training sessions and the Nucleus Research knowledge center. The knowledge center is open to the general public and can be reached through the main Web site or www.ROIExpert.com. |
