Nucleus examined Juniper Networks Universal Edge to identify how network service providers (NSPs) can use the platform to improve network performance. Benefits were found in three areas. First, Universal Edge enables faster content downloads, making it less likely that frustrated customers will switch to rival providers. Second, NSPs can monetize Universal Edge’s ability to improve quality of experience by building tiered networks or forming partnerships with content providers who rely on NSPs to reach their customers. By enabling caching at the edge of the NSP network, the platform also lowers IP transit costs.
