The Maintenance revolution

Notes and Reports
September 2005 - Report F100

THE BOTTOM LINE

Maintenance fees provide a steady revenue stream to technology vendors with very high margins. While this annual premium was grudgingly accepted by customers as par of the cost of using software, vigorous pushback on maintenance percentage amounts and the lack of value customers receive from maintenance charges is spurring vendors to deliver concrete benefits.
