Cortana could become a Watson substitute

On January 23, 2015 Microsoft announced the acquisition of Revolution Analytics. Revolution Analytics’ main product is Revolution R Enterprise (RRE), an open-source analytics platform that is capable of running in-Hadoop, in-database, and in-cluster computations. The acquisition brings RRE’s predictive and prescriptive analytics into Microsoft’s portfolio. Nucleus expects that the acquisition will bring customers improved productivity from mobile access to business analytics and increased value from data insights. Furthermore, the acquisition rounds out recent investments centered on delivering a functional, cognitive-computing platform, similar to IBM Watson.
