While the Apple iPad established the tablet market, today users are looking at the practical business applications that tablet devices can serve in the enterprise. Nucleus examined the business case for Apple and Windows tablets deployed within organizations, and found that most iPad users generally used the iPad for a specific application, while Windows users used the tablets for multiple business applications. In comparing the experiences of organizations deploying iPads versus those using Windows tablets, such as Surface, Nucleus found that two-thirds of iPad users still used two devices, while 96 percent of users of Windows tablets, such as Surface, had a single device. In the business environment, this resulted in an overall cost of device management that is 66 percent greater for iOS tablets compared with Windows tablets.
