Business Analytics Budgets On the Rise with Sharper Focus on ROI, Nucleus Research 2014 Market Survey Finds
September 25, 2014The move from on-premise to cloud analytics project is accelerating
BOSTON – September 25, 2014 – Based on its latest business analytics survey, Nucleus Research found that 71 percent of organizations expect to increase analytics investment budgets in 2015, and the move to the cloud is accelerating, with 61% of on-premise users considering a move to the cloud in the next two years.
In the rapidly-evolving analytics market, the availability of cloud deployment options with faster time to value and greater ongoing flexibility are attractive to customers who want to take advantage of the latest vendor innovations in big data, in-memory computing, and other emerging analytics capabilities.
“Analytics deliver clear and increasing ROI, with 95% of survey respondents reporting having achieved a positive ROI. That is likely to continue as customers take advantage of the initial and ongoing economies of cloud solutions,” said Nina Sandy, analyst at Nucleus Research.
Increasing budgets and plans to upgrade existing deployments show that customers are increasing the breadth and repeatability of their analytics deployments and applying their capabilities to a broader set of users and business problems.
Survey respondents also said that 93% of them planned to stay with their current solution, meaning both traditional and emerging vendors can focus their investments on delivering new functionality and capabilities to attract new customers, particularly in the cloud domain, where customers can more rapidly adopt new features.
Ian Campbell, Chief Executive Officer of research at Nucleus Research, said, “Business analytics continues to be a high area of return on investment for customers, with projects delivering an average of $13.01 for every dollar spent. We expect vendors will continue to invest in both emerging capabilities and cloud delivery options to meet the demands of users to attack more business challenges with analytics.”
