Communications Service Provider Achieves 500% ROI with Google Applications
June 9, 2009
Reduces IT costs and risk, improves collaboration and increases agility
BOSTON – June 9, 2009 – Nucleus Research analysts have independently examined the deployment of Google Applications at a provider of communications services to find a rapid return on investment (ROI) of 500% with payback in just 1 month.
A provider of interactive patient education and entertainment products and services in the U.S., the company and its 400 employees delivered education, entertainment and communication services to more than 6 million patients at 350 healthcare locations last year. In 2007, the company found that its dated version of Microsoft Exchange was running out of disk space and needed to be upgraded or changed. Given that an on-premise Exchange upgrade would have been costly, the company looked for more cost-effective options that could support its growing collaboration needs while containing cost and reducing risk. After evaluating on-demand applications, it selected Google Apps.
Deploying Google Apps has enabled the company to increase collaboration and reduce risk, while providing a geographically-distributed employee base with the ability to work from anywhere. The company avoided a costly upgrade of Exchange, increased IT staff productivity and has improved interaction with its customers.
“Companies are demanding solutions that enable users to access their work information from anywhere, even mobile devices such as Blackberry. This allows those organizations to act more as a virtual company, further reducing costs while increasing flexibility” said Rebecca Wettemann, VP of Research for Nucleus Research.
