New Technology Value Matrix for Enterprise Applications identifies industry trends, leading vendors

BOSTON – November 9, 2011 – Nucleus Research today released the latest Technology Value Matrix for Enterprise Applications, finding that enterprise organizations are reevaluating business needs and seeking more functionality and value as they upgrade legacy ERP systems. In response, vendors are adding new features and options, such as cloud deployment, while continuing to invest in their existing ERP offerings.

“With roughly one-third of existing ERP investments reaching the end of their lifecycle over the next five years, vendors have an opportunity to address the changing expectations of their customers, including the addition of SaaS options, better license maintenance and integration with analytics. We are also seeing more vendors develop vertical solutions and applications that appeal to the midmarket” said Rebecca Wettemann, vice president of research, Nucleus Research.

The Enterprise Application Value Matrix addresses both on-premise and software-as-a-service (SaaS) vendors and includes both Tier 1 and Tier 2 vendors, as they have been traditionally known, because both sets are increasingly competing and cohabitating in the same accounts. Nucleus found Microsoft Dynamics AX, Oracle EBS and Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne to be the leading enterprise applications developers, enabling organizations to leapfrog from standard ERP to full enterprise applications with deeper functionality that accelerates time to value and increases predictability of deployments.

The Enterprise Application Value Matrix can be used by organizations to evaluate the functionality and usability of software investments with current vendors and to evaluate the potential of other solutions offered by competing vendors. Nucleus Research produces Value Matrix reports in major enterprise software categories every six months. To read the Value Matrix report, go to NucleusResearch.com.
