ERP/Enterprise Applications Move Beyond Back Office
May 21, 2012New offerings bring mobile and role-based access, social collaboration and analytics capabilities to core enterprise resource planning
BOSTON – May 22, 2012 – Nucleus Research released the H1 2012 Technology Value Matrix for enterprise applications (traditionally known as enterprise resource planning or ERP), showing an industry trend to include features that increase user productivity and enhance decision-maker visibility beyond the conventional ERP back-office data capture.
Top performers in the current Value Matrix offer cloud-based versions or options and several provide prepackaged solution accelerators for specific industry or business requirements to more closely align with customers’ business needs. They are integrating analytics to provide better overall visibility and offering mobile access, role-based access, and social collaboration capabilities to boost productivity and gain a better understanding of consumer demands.
“Evolving technology and changing company dynamics have driven greater customer demands for usability and productivity in enterprise applications in addition to conventional ERP transactional data capture. Smart vendors are building new functionality to meet these growing demands. Our Value Matrix shows which vendors offer the best value” said Rebecca Wettemann, VP of research for Nucleus Research.
Leaders in the current Value Matrix include Microsoft Dynamics AX, Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne. SAP, while not quite in the Leader quadrant, has moved up from the previous Value Matrix. Oracle Fusion, Infor, Deltek and Workday were also identified as vendors to watch in the Value Matrix.
