ECM vendors focus on simplification, integration of new features to expand maturing solutions

BOSTON – May 6, 2014 – Nucleus Research today launched a new Technology Value Matrix for Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions.

“There is nothing magic about the Nucleus Research ECM Value Matrix, which identifies the best vendors and ranks them based on usability and functionality, the two factors that best determine value. No hocus pocus and no mystical calculations for our value matrix, which provides a straight-foward evaluation for our customers to select the best solution for their organization,” said Ian Campbell, CEO of Nucleus Research.

The first ECM Value Matrix finds a trend toward simplification and better usability as well as integration with other core enterprise solutions, such as CRM and Human Capital Management. ECM is producing higher ROI for customers than ever before, leveraging both cloud and hybrid deployments in portfolios that offer greater content availability for end-users.

There are eight leaders at the forefront of the current ECM Value Matrix. OpenText, Oracle, and EMC are pursuing strategies that leverage further usability for customers, while IBM and OnBase are shoring up features that enhance functionality. Other vendors in the Leader quadrant include HP Autonomy, Perceptive Software, and SpringCM.

“Leading ECM vendors are expanding the reach of enterprise content beyond the traditional office, adding secure mobile tools that give employees direct access to data regardless of location. We also see integration of deeper content management with other applications as ECM emerges as a core enterprise solution,” said Joseph Rojas, research analyst at Nucleus Research.
