Nucleus Research Survey Gives CPM Vendors A+ in Customer Satisfaction as Vendors Gear Up for Industry-Wide Jump to the Cloud in the Next Two Years

With CPM budgets on the rise, vendors invest in functionality and cloud capabilities

BOSTON – October 8, 2014 – A new Nucleus Research 2014 market survey finds that Corporate Performance Management (CPM) solutions are growing in popularity with a near-perfect 98 percent satisfaction rate among customers. A majority of customers surveyed are looking to increase their CPM budgets over the next few years, a very good sign for vendors.

“It is rare to see such high customer satisfaction rates – 98 percent — for nearly anything, let alone enterprise software. CPM vendors are helping customers realize positive ROI and this value is creating tremendous new opportunities in this space,” said Ian Campbell, CEO at Nucleus Research.

The survey also found that half of on-premise customers plan to migrate to the cloud within the next two years, bringing the total up to an estimated 80 percent by 2020. Driven by efforts to increase ROI, half of the 53 surveyed CPM customers also continue to seek expanded functionality, while about 34 percent have already fully deployed to the cloud.

“Business processes typically benefit from automated solutions, where a high degree of functionality and usability reduce the chance of human error. Reducing the level of manual effort ensures accuracy and productivity gains, allowing users to move away from focusing on formulas to concentrating on business decisions,” said Nina Sandy, principal analyst at Nucleus Research.

Increased accessibility to functionality continues to drive many of these productivity improvements, as well as the choice of vendor solutions themselves. Customers are deciding on deployments based on their organizations’ ability to be more productive over the initial cost of each solution. With 96 percent of customers expecting to either maintain or increase their budgets for CPM in the coming year, Nucleus expects vendors to continue significant development efforts for these platforms while ensuring more seamless integration and cloud deployment flexibility.
