Organizations Increasingly Look to Workforce Management Applications to Help Control Labor Costs
November 8, 2011New Technology Value Matrix for Workforce Management identifies industry trends, leading vendors
BOSTON – November 8, 2011 – Nucleus Research today released the latest Technology Value Matrix for Workforce Management (WFM), noting that organizations continue to invest in WFM in order to reduce and control their largest operating expense: labor costs.
The WFM Value Matrix for the second half of 2011 addresses both on-premise and software-as-a-service (SaaS) vendors working towards functionality in three core areas: workforce scheduling, time and attendance, and leave management. The leading vendors include Dayforce, Ceridian, Kronos, and ADP.
Two broad trends have been revealed since the last Matrix was released in the first half of this year. First, organizations are increasingly turning to WFM tools as a way to obtain more control over labor costs. They also want to embrace the cloud as a delivery model and exit the business of managing their WFM applications altogether to focus IT resources on more strategic activities.
“While some vendors have moved significantly on the Technology Value Matrix for Workforce Management, we are seeing steady and promising improvements in both usability and functionality across the board. This is maximizing the overall value of these applications with a climbing ROI, indicating more efficient solutions that give more time back to IT to refocus on other areas” said David O’Connell, principal analyst, Nucleus Research.
The Value Matrix can be used by organizations to assess their WFM software investment in existing solutions and evaluate the potential of other vendors that continue to show high and steadily increasing usability and functionality scores over time. Nucleus Research produces Value Matrix reports in major enterprise software categories every six months. To read the Value Matrix report, go to NucleusResearch.com.
