AI value in recruiting: The state of adoption in 2026

October 8, 2026 - Research 26179

AI adoption in talent acquisition is gaining momentum, with about 35 percent of customers Nucleus interviewed increasing their investment or planning to expand into new paid modules and AI tools over the next 12 months. Value now comes mainly from time savings on repetitive, high-volume recruiting tasks such as candidate match scoring, automated sourcing, interview scheduling, and conversational voice screening. However, friction persists, with some customers reporting rising agentic pricing following initial pilots. Others remain distrustful of agentic automation, and nonprofit, healthcare, and public sector organizations face ongoing governance and budget constraints. Many organizations are also waiting for proof of value or working to resolve internal workflows before investing further. Nucleus expects the adoption gap to endure but narrow over time, led by frontline organizations whose hiring volumes justify the investment.
