Quality management in regulated manufacturing depends on maintaining control and traceability as engineering changes, supplier activities, non-conformances, and customer issues move through the organization. Nucleus found that ComplianceQuest’s quality management system (QMS) enabled a global photonics manufacturer to replace paper-based quality processes with an integrated system spanning document control, training, change management, corrective action, customer complaints, supplier management, and audits, connected to its Salesforce CRM and Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP. Automated change approvals and controlled supplier drawings helped increase first pass yield from 75 to 80 percent to 98 to 99 percent, and reduced scrap from more than five percent to 0.2 percent. Connected quality processes also contributed to on-time delivery increasing from 72 to 74 percent to approximately 96 percent, and customer returns declining from more than five percent to approximately 0.4 percent. The organization attributes approximately 25 percent revenue growth and 20 percent profit growth over the period in part to stronger quality and delivery performance with its original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers.
