Cloudera catches up in analytics

On February 3, 2015 Cloudera announced the acquisition of Xplain.io. Xplain.io is an emerging start-up whose product analyzes user queries to optimize locations and pathways of data stores in Hadoop. Xplain.io improves query response times and analytics within Hadoop. Cloudera customers will benefit from increased productivity and customers of both products will benefit from reduced licensing costs. Moreover, this acquisition is indicative of a larger market trend; similar acquisitions can be expected to result from the increased popularity of Hadoop pressuring distributors to provide a more mature product.
