Database and data warehouse trends for 2022

January 25, 2022 - Research W8

Reflecting on vendor interactions and customer interviews throughout the past year, Nucleus has identified several key factors driving vendor investment and user adoption of database and data warehouse technologies. Vendors are investing in distributed processing, leveraging multi-region and multi-cloud approaches to ensure availability alongside machine learning (ML) algorithms to improve processing efficiency and deliver self-service analytic capabilities. At the same time, users are driving demand for intuitive no/low-code interfaces such as graphical and natural language to streamline higher-order analytics and modeling, and increased demand for usage-based serverless pricing models and lower-latency options for data processing at the edge and within databases.
