For the CFO, cybersecurity is about the financials—not the technology. For the CFO, it never makes sense to spend more money trying to secure an item than the item is worth. While the Chief Security Officer may cringe, to the CFO, in extreme cases, it would make more financial sense to throw a piece of technology in the trash rather than devote the resources to fixing it. Over the next ten years, the pragmatic financial approach will overtake the fearful and reactionary mindset that currently drives security spending as the CFO plays a greater role in such decisions.
