Jane Hendicks, our Principal Analyst for the Human Management space, released a research note earlier this week on HRTech and some of her thoughts about the announcements that occurred during the show.  She points out the underlying messages from the vendors is to move beyond transactions to end-to-end human management, which fits with Nucleus’s overall view of the four pillars of technology.  If we look at the use of technology from the business rather than technology point of view, we can identify four core business activities: production management, customer management, finance, and human management. We’re already seeing strategic consolidation in these core areas, and the announcements at HRTech support the end-to-end trend in the Human Management area.  It’s not a stretch to argue government regulations, taxes, and Obamacare is accelerating the consolidation in the Human Management market, and it’s likely this market will be the first to provide solutions that support everything from hiring to firing. This is great news for both larger companies (Ceridian, ADP, etc.) that are likely to grow and smaller point solutions (PeopleMatter, BenefitFocus, etc.) that will gain from integration and possible acquisition.
