We looked at Arachno’s Orbit earlier in the year (o6 – A closer look at Orbit) and highlighted its SharePoint-like capabilities for the broader world beyond just Redmond Washington-sourced products. It came up again recently when discussing Google Apps and its slow adoption in the corporate environment with a few CFOs. These bottom-line folks liked the costs effectiveness of Google Apps but needed the content management and workflow capabilities of SharePoint. That’s where Arachno’s Orbit shines with SharePoint capabilities for not just Microsoft products, but Google and, well, just about everything else. Microsoft dominated when the technology landscape was ruled by IT departments standardizing configurations and internal training departments offering multiple levels of Word and Excel classes (and the associated color printed certificates to adorn the walls of cube-land dwellers). Today technology supports line of business and embracing an ever flowing tech landscape is the goal. Arachno is nicely positioned to support organizations as they manage content in all forms, not just the forms that come from Microsoft products.
