When e-commerce is the only commerce

March 23, 2020 - Research U29

The coronavirus outbreak has caused stores, restaurants, and event sites to close physical locations to prevent the spread of the infection. As a result, companies will be leaning heavily on their e-commerce and digital sales channels to stay afloat until the lockdowns end. With the sudden increase in importance and significant bump in traffic, organizations need, now more than ever, for their sites and infrastructure to function properly and quickly. Organizations that were slow to invest in digital channels or have an outmoded operating model will be quickly exposed. Further, as the lockdown persists and the major sellers like Amazon and Wal-Mart run low on inventory, up-and-coming digital sellers will have an opportunity to grow their brands and capitalize on the rush of consumers.
