The future of cloud computing with IBM POWER10

August 26, 2020 - Research U117

Recently, IBM debuted POWER10 processors, which is IBM’s first commercialized 7nm processor. The new architecture more than triples the capacity and energy efficiency when compared to IBM POWER9 and increases from 24 SMT4 cores to 60 SMT4 cores. The IBM POWER10 design centers around five key pillars, including data plane bandwidth/capacity, enterprise core architecture, end-to-end security, energy efficiency, and AI-infused cores. With POWER10, IBM is addressing the future needs of enterprise cloud computing environments and further migrating towards the growing environments of hybrid cloud computing.
